“Getting a medical certificate from the GP surgery can prove a little frustrating” is something we hear regularly. Surgeries that refuse to give you a Medical Certificate for Gun Licence Application in the first place may appear very slow in providing a copy of your medical notes. However, at the time of writing this, we are in our second COVID-19 national lockdown and so it is completely understandable this request is not something that is at the top of their list of priorities. Indeed there have been significant changes in the way that surgeries have worked since the beginning of this pandemic and these changes may well be with us for some considerable time.
However, more and more surgeries now carry out their practice in an electronic fashion. So rather than asking for a photocopy of your notes, as has been the norm in the past, we provide pre-written consent letters requesting for a copy of your entire notes in digital form to be sent directly to ShootCert. This will be easy for the surgery, less time-consuming for staff, and hopefully therefore much quicker to get.
It is also easier for you as well and much more secure than sending a hard copy through the post. As we move more and more to a paperless society, it is also much kinder to the environment.
